Vitafoam Products Limited, one of the largest producers of quality flexible polyurethane foam in Kenya, is celebrating the Company’s 50th anniversary year. The company was bought from British Vita, and named Vitafoam East Africa Limited in 1968, and later renamed as Vitafoam Products Limited under the patent rights of British Vita of UK.

The Golden Jubilee will be marked with a host of activities including donating 50 mattresses for the destitute old people cared for at Nyumba ya Wazee, tree planting and help for children’s homes.

Rakesh Shah, the Managing Director of Vitafoam Products Limited, said “Our journey during the 50 years has not been without challenges, but we have made significant progress and growth and diversified our product range. We are looking to double our turnover in the next seven years and triple it in the next ten years and we are keen to become a listed company and start trading in shares at the NSE.”

“Vitafoam was the first foam manufacturing company to introduce Latex and Memory foam products in East Africa. Over the years we have expanded our product range which today includes superior quality foam products like mattresses, cushions, foam sheets, carpet underlay, bolsters, and pillows of various densities and sizes.”

As part of the diversification strategy, in 2016 Vitafoam started the Home, Garden and Patio Centre as a sister company. With showrooms on Mombasa Road and Muthithi Road, this one stop facility offers a comprehensive range of outdoor furniture and décor, flooring materials, lights, pots and plants. Another new product line is a range of branded promotional items including umbrellas, shirts and caps.

Following the ban of plastic carrier bags by the Kenyan Government, Vitafoam Products Limited started trading in eco-friendly non-woven products among which are bags, car seat covers, laundry bags and suit covers. These are made from engineered fabrics created from fibers and are durable, eco-friendly and reusable therefore will help to save the environment from pollution.

The company has a long history having started in Mombasa in a small factory with only 25 staff. Vitafoam expanded operations and opened a branch in Nairobi in 1970. Our factory is located off the Mombasa Road and the organisation has over 260 staff. There are sales outlets on the Mombasa Road and Muthithi Road in Westlands, Nairobi.
