Car and General Partners with NIIT a Global Talent Development Organization to Offer Job Ready Programs

Listed Company Car and General has partnered with Indian based Multinational Company NIIT – the World’s Leading ICT Training and Talent Development Corporation to offer ICT and Non-ICT job ready programs to the Kenyan market. These start this month (February) in their State of the art Training Centre located on the first floor of Barclays Plaza on Loita Street in Nairobi.

This is the first time that Car and General is venturing into the education and training sector in their 83 years of operation in Kenya with the intention to bridge the skill gap and increase employability for Kenyan youth. The Company is a leading supplier of generators, motorbikes, tuktuks, laundry equipment, lawn mowers, scooters, marine engines, construction equipment and a wide range of power generation, automotive and engineering products.

Saumil Vyas has been appointed as Centre Head to run the NIIT Kenya operation. He explained, “NIIT – Job Ready programs are in high demand in many parts of the world as they ensure that the certified learners have the competences required by employers and are productive resources from day one.”

“We offer a wide range of training programmes which are industry relevant, application based and are designed to provide participants with hands on skills help them perform better in any corporation. These are professional, certificate and diploma courses ranging in duration from two to 24 months.”

“NIIT offers digital transformation technologies packages in ICT including Software Engineering, Big Data, Data Analytics and IT Infrastructure Management. We also have Non-ICT courses such as Digital Marketing, MS-Office, Professional Advance Excel with analysis tools.”

In order to bridge the skills gap, the organization has an initiative called NIIT Inside Campus (NIC) model which empowers the youth by integrating the NIIT curriculum with the existing curriculums in the universities to help improve their skills as best suitable for each market. This model has been very successful in India, China , Indonesia, Vietnam and Africa as well.
