Nairobi Hotels Roll Out Quarantine Packages in Spirit of Supporting Government Control Spread of Corona Virus

PrideInn Group of Hotels Managing Director Hasnain Noorani Addressing the Media.

Selected city hotels among them PrideInn Group have partnered with government to avail rooms to quarantine incoming travelers before they return back to their homes. PrideInn group has offered its properties as quarantine or isolation facilities during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We have been asked to provide rooms for quarantine and follow certain process. We are working in a coordinated way with the government. These are travellers, who are asymptomatic. They just need to be quarantined for observation. We have to service them in a manner that they have minimum movement,” said Mr. Noorani.

Hotels chosen by the government have to follow certain guidelines on room rate which is affordable, for instance PrideInn has deliberately subsidized rates to USD 60 on Full Board in spirit of supporting the government control the spread of the deadly corona virus.

PrideInn Managing Director Mr. Hasnain Noorani said that hotel workers are not interacting with people quarantined in their rooms, but are preparing meals and feeding them in accordance with ministry of health guidelines.

“By providing the much needed accommodation for self-quarantine, we want to be part of the fight against Covid – 19. To this end, our staff have been trained to handle these delicate guests while still performing other tasks. Officials from the ministry of health are at the same time doing routine supervision.

“Hotel rooms are serving as housing for those who do not need to be hospitalized but need a place to quarantine safely before they get back to their homes,” said Mr. Noorani

Public health officials will be the only ones interacting with those in isolation and quarantine, but hotel officials have extensively been trained on how to handle linens and general hygiene of the guests.

Also, meals to quarantined guests are served only in disposable utensils. All our hotels have endeavored to maintain high levels of hygiene,” added Mr. Noorani.

The approval of quarantine facilities into the health system will help the country remove some of the pressure on our hospitals.
