West Pokot County Buys Ten Massey Ferguson Tractors and Trailers for Road Repairs and Garbage Collection

Professor John Lonyangapuo the Governor of West Pokot County and Ms. Emilly Chepoghisyo the Minister responsible for youth and sports activities in the County received ten Massey Fergusson tractors and trailers from Tom Aiyabei a Sales Representative of FMD East Africa at a ceremony held in the grounds of the County offices at Kapenguria.

The equipment is being deployed for the Community Service Programme which will provide employment for 30 youths in each of the 77 locations. They will carry out road repairs, garbage collection and other appropriate work in the twenty wards.

Each of the groups will be headed by location supervisors and coordinators to ensure the effectiveness of the project which is intended to improve the livelihoods of the people of West Pokot County.

The MF 275 four wheel drive 75 horsepower tractors are coupled with a six tonne tipping trailers. These are ideal for maneuvering in the hilly West Pokot terrain and for providing road maintenance and garbage collection. Once the project commences FMD will commission the equipment and train tractor operators.
