Car and General Trading Limited has entered into a partnership with the Lions Club International through a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) to help to eradicate preventable blindness and restore vision by holding free eye camps in some remote areas of Kenya.
The MOU which was signed by Vijay Gidoomal, the Car and General Group Executive Officer, Dr. Manoj Shah, the Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital’s Board Of Management Chairman and Rizwana Peerbhoy, the Hospital’s General Manager will include holding three free eye camps in a year.
During the camps screening will be carried out, eye medications dispensed and reading glasses donated. Those who require further examination and treatment will be referred to SightFirst Eye Hospital in Loresho.
Speaking at the function Vijay Gidoomal said, “Car and General believes that free eye camps are a good opportunity to team up with local and religious leaders, teachers and the community to help create awareness of preventable blindness and eye care for the needy people This is why we have joined hands with the Lions Club International to hold more eye camps in remote areas.”
Dr. Manoj Shah said, “The Lions Club International and the SightFirst Hospital in Loresho are the right platform for optimizing these activities. We are very grateful to Car and General for providing the necessary funds.”
