The all new Volkswagen Touareg has been launched in Kenya by DT Dobie to suit motorists requiring large and luxurious SUVs. The Touareg is powered by the latest Volkswagen V6 TFSI petrol engine developing 335 horsepower and 450 NM of torque mated to an eight speed automatic transmission with permanent four wheel drive and a Torsen differential.
A look inside the spacious cabin draws attention to the Innovation cockpit with a 15 inch infotainment screen coupled with a 12 inch digital instrument cluster in front of the driver. Great emphasis has been placed on comfort of the driver and passengers with three memory seat settings for the driver and front passenger.
The ergonomically designed front seats offer a choice of heating and cooling depending on weather conditions. The multi colour ambient lighting adds to the new refined luxury of the new Touareg.
For the owner requiring to be in regular contact with business colleagues, family and friends there is USB interface for iPod and phone (Bluetooth) and mobile phone interface. App connect is standard equipment with Android Auto and Apple Car play.
The well-being of the driver and passengers is enhanced by an air conditioning system which gives separate climate control for the driver and each passenger. Another feature is heads up display that shows the road speed ahead in addition to the panoramic glass sunroof with tilt and roll back functions. The exterior mirrors are heated and adjusted from inside the cockpit.
Safety features include an Anti-locking Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake pressure Distribution (EBD) and an Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) which gives 100 percent to torque any wheel. There are six different driving profiles for on and off road conditions with an off road mode which alters the setting of ABS, ESP, EDL and Hill-descent control.
The driver and front passenger are protected by frontal and side airbags and there are curtain airbags for both front and rear occupants.
